As every year, the World Wetlands Day on the anniversary of the RAMSAR convention (of 1971, Feb. 2nd) calls and Sardinia, in particular the Oristanese area, replies within the Maristanis project that aims at the protection, management and enhancement of these extraordinary wetlands!
Not only, Sardinia with a rich calendar of almost 40 events in the Oristanese area including excursions, birdwatching and tours to the ponds and lagoons by bike, boat, kayak, turns out to be one of the most active Regions within the Mediterranean celebrating its wetlands!
The event calendar put together by the MEDSEA foundation together with local partners such as Lipu Oristano, AFNI Sardinia, Cooperative Alea, MPA Penisola del Sinis – Isola di Mal di Ventre, FAI Oristano and many others.
Sardinia, with currently 9 RAMSAR areas of international importance out of 57 areas identified in Italy and a 17% of the total national surface, is one of the Italian regions with the greatest quantity and extension of these important basins, mostly coastal, including the latest born at the Posada River mouth.
