With a picture taken in the Oristanese lagoons representing a group of flamingos and the sentence "They come / They come back / Sometimes they stop / Like nomads / In a world / That no longer belongs to us", Gabriele Espis, nature photographer from Terralba , won the MEDSEA #WWDSardegna photo contest which took place on the occasion of the World Wetlands Day from 2 to 27 February 2022.
As every year, the World Wetlands Day on the anniversary of the RAMSAR convention (of 1971, Feb. 2nd) calls and Sardinia, in particular the Oristanese area, replies within the Maristanis project that aims at the protection, management and enhancement of these extraordinary wetlands!

In the occasion of the World Wetlands Day which celebrates ponds and lagoons in the world next February 2, the MEDSEA foundation launches the contest on wetlands in Sardinia with the hashtag #WWDSardegna to raise awareness and promote these still little-known habitats.
With over 60 participating works from the middle schools of the Maristanis municipalities, the Terre d'Acqua competition, launched on the occasion of World Wetlands Day on 2 February, has come to a successful conclusion. Three classes won, one for the DRAWING category, one for the NARRATIVE category, while a special prize was awarded to the "comic strip" category. The prizes were presented to the students by representatives of the MEDSEA Foundation a few days ago, and it was an opportunity to express their thoughts on the environment and wetlands. T
The Torre Vecchia di Marceddì, known by all as “Turri Eccia”, opens its doors after a period of restoration cared by the MEDSEA Foundation. The project was carried out also within the Maristanis project with the aim of promoting and value the cultural and natural heritage of the wetlands in the Oristano Gulf.
