    MEDSEA foundation, which has been carrying out the Maristanis project in the Oristano area in Sardinia since 2017, attended last week the yearly meeting of the MAVA steering committee. The session took place from 16 to 17 December 2021 in Châteauneuf-le-Rouge, in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region, and gathered together the international partners of the M3 strategy which aims to improve the conservation of the coastal wetlands.

    The first round of meetings of the Coastal Contract participatory process came to an end. For two months it saw the experts of the MEDSEA Foundation, on behalf of the Coordination Group, discuss in 9 meetings and over 20 hours of listening of all the institutional, economic, cultural and environmental forces operating in the Gulf of Oristano.

    The Friends of Maristanis Club is expanding! Twenty seven extra companies working in tourism and catering decided to join the network and start controlling their water consumption as well as finding ways for water saving to protect and enhance the Oristano wetlands area. 51 members e companies in total, including accommodation facilities (hotels, B&B, short let, home holidays...), restaurants, bars, tourist associations and more.

    The "Wetlands and Coastal Zones Contract" family is growing: with a resolution of the Municipal Council, the municipality of Nurachi has decided to become part of the integrated governance tool that is already composed by the municipalities of Arborea, Arbus, Cabras, Guspini, Oristano, Palmas Arborea, Riola Sardo, San Vero Milis, Santa Giusta and Terralba, from the Sardinia Region, the Province of Oristano and the Oristano Reclamation Consortium.

    A pioneering award for saving water resources in agriculture: the national Coldiretti Green Oscar has been won by Andrea Liverani, a young drone pilot and partner, together with Coldiretti Oristano, in the activities focused on agriculture that the MEDSEA foundation implements within the Maristanis project, born in 2017 for the conservation and sustainable development of the Gulf of Oristano wetlands.
